Sequiter Software announces CodeBase 6.4 release, including enhanced
client/server security and royalty-free 5-user client/server license.

EDMONTON, ALBERTA - July 28, 1998 - Ken Sawyer, President of Sequiter Software, announced today the release of CodeBase 6.4, which now includes enhanced client/server security, new enterprise-level administration tools, and royalty-free distribution of a 5-user version of the CodeBase database server.

The new server security features include User ID and Password verification, file access privileges that can be set both at the account level and on a table-by-table basis, and an Internet firewall. The Internet firewall works by restricting user access based on their IP address. This feature can protect server data from unauthorzed access, even when User ID and Password information has been compromised.

Also new to CodeBase 6.4 is CodeBase Server Administrator, a utility application designed to manage the new security features in the CodeBase server. CodeBase Server Administrator also includes functionality for reporting on user activity, including file and record access, controlling user connections, configuring the CodeBase server, and for performing table maintenance. CodeBase Server Administrator can be distributed royalty-free with developer's applications.

Another important new feature of CodeBase 6.4 is the modified distribution license for the CodeBase database server. Developers will now be granted the right to distribute an unlimited number of copies of the CodeBase database server, providing the ability to offer their end users either standalone or client/server configurations for database applications.

"Our new client/server features and licensing agreement make it possible to use client/server in deployments that were once single- or networked multi-user", Sawyer noted. Even applicaitons designed for a small number of users can now take advantage of the inherint stability and network performance of the client/server model. And because CodeBase Server Administrator can be distributed royalty free, end-users will have a powerful tool to administer their client/server applications.

CodeBase 6.4 is available immediately from Sequiter Software.
